Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor -
"sweat equity" - into building their homes and the homes of others.
Their mortgage payments go into a revolving fund for Humanity that is used
to build more houses.
Habitat for Humanity also operates a retail thrift store in
downtown Terre Haute, the
Habitat ReSTORE.
It's located on the southwest corner of Wabash and 19th Streets in
one of the city's original
firehouses. Tax deductible donations of usable
building materials, working appliances, and certain furniture cheerfully accepted
for resale to a growing stream of customers looking for or needing a
bargain! Income from sales goes to building another Habitat home.
For more information,
click on the ReSTORE button in the left column.
